Giftgirls and Sherry Lou!

I am always, always willing to support anything made by my fellow, lovely bloggers! You all are so creative and fantastic, it blows my mind. If only I had half the talent!

First up on the brag list is Giftgirls! I found her store through her blog - it's quite the lovely little online store that sells rings, necklaces, bracelets, and hair accessories. They've got everything from cute vintage-styled jewelry to pretty bobby pins with flowers and such. If you haven't checked out their online store, you must right now! Go go go!

I saw that they made scrabble rings and knew immediately that I had to get one that was my initial! So I did. It came in the mail in the cutest little packaging - a little blue box (Tiffany's, anyone? so cute!) and a bow.

And now on to the next purchase - Sherry Lou! Their clothing is created by the two girls, Jennifer and Sherry, two sisters from San Diego,CA. They have absolutely wonderful one-of-a-kind lace tops, over-sized tunic sweaters, and more. Again, I found their hand-made creations through the girls' lovely blog, Jennifer and Sherry. And did I mention how sweet they are?! Check out both their blog and their Ebay store!

I bought their vintage-styled lace top, and I absolutely adore it! From the cute little buttons on the sleeves to the length of the top, it is seriously freaking fabulous. By the way, pay no mind to my knobby knees! I couldn't be bothered to put any tights on.

"you're afraid of color"

so here is a bit of a rant mixed with a few reviews! the title of this post pertains to the reviews part.

first off - MY COMPUTER. I am so over its bullshit! it refuses to keep my programs running so it decides to freeze them, therefor I am forced to force shut it down. so it'll boot back up, and do the same. exact. thing. PUH-LEASE. I am going to flip my shit if I have to deal with this for much longer!

secondly - my poor poor nails. you remember my latest NOTD post, yes? well, come to find out, taking green nail varnish OFF of your nails is quite impossible. now I've shamefully decided I won't use this polish again unless I'm really in the mood for a bright green, because after trying to not only rub off the varnish with alcohol but SCRAPE it off with a metal cuticle pusher, I am left with these sad looking nails, to which you can't even see the extent of the damage and dyed color!:

okay, well I guess I should just get down to business, which continues to be a bit of a downer. as you read in my last tiny haul, I purchased some e.l.f. products to give it a go. well, I gave it a try...

e.l.f. palette with chosen colors

alright, girls. here is my take on it:
first off, you should know I am NO mastermind when it comes to applying eyeshadows. that's why I'm starting to play around with them and practice.
- this eyeshadow was very hard to apply. as soon as your brush hit the powder, it like instantly crumbles (as seen in photo). I don't completely mind that, but I do like something with a more solid foundation.
- the colors are actually really pretty, and though I had a limited selection when browsing the brand, I do really like the colors I chose. they compliment my eye color fairly well, at least I think! like I said, I'm no mastermind here.
- the colors applied pretty evenly, though very lightly. then again, as my title post is named very correctly, I am scared of color. my art teacher told me that. I'd always be painting and be afraid of making a shadow to dark and such. therefore, I think I'm a little (okay, WAY) timid when it comes to playing up colors on my face, nevermind paper.
- final say: I rank it a 5/10. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.

e.l.f. liquid eyeshadow in misty mauve

my take on this one:
- I so much more prefer liquid/cream eyeshadow to powder! oh, thank heavens, something I can work with!
- the color is so pretty, and I definitely love the way it looks on my fair skin. it has enough shine to look nice but not so much that I look like a 6 year old playing with my mother's make up.
- it went on very evenly and cleanly. you can spread it out as much as you want, though because it is "liquid," it dries quickly and is a bit harder to blend. but that's okay - you can just add more where you need to.
- let me tell you: this stuff is ON there, man! it won't budge, which is great for me because I don't ever have much time to run to the rest room to check my makeup. I can imagine it won't all end up in my eyelid crease, either, because it has stayed put thus far.
- final rating: 8/10... I definitely recommend you to try this if you're looking for something new.

PS if you ignored my horribly untamed and quite scary looking eyebrows, I love you!

fresh as a mint

ladies and gentlemen, i have been minted! i found a new polish that i absolutely love! revlon's "minted" nail varnish. who says you can't wear pastels in the fall?

outtake (i can never get my right hand to look good because i am right handed, not left!... this is what i get before fixing all the messiness hehe):

so, here's my take on it: it's a total pain to apply because it's such a light color, but as with all polishes, it looks a million times better after a second coat. that second coat is time consuming, i know, but it's totally worth it because the color is just lovely. i love this cool color for the crisp autumn season!

No7 maximum volume

alright ladies, it's review time! while browsing the beauty aisles at target yesterday, i came across a section for No7 products, which i'd never heard of or seen until i entered the blogosphere. they do have quite the selection, from facial cleaners to eyeshadow to nail varnish. since my aim was to try out a new mascara and hopefully find a new favorite, i purchased this lovely darling: No7 maximum volume mascara in brown/black

not too long ago i did have quite the asphyxiation with hating bristle brushes because of clumps, but when i'm in a rush [especially in the mornings before work] i find it difficult and time consuming to perfect lashes after coating them with mascara using plastic brushes or a comb. so i went back to my original true love - bristle brushes!

i truly do adore this mascara because it coats every lash and there are no clumps at all, even after a few coats. it is now my go to mascara and definitely a new favorite of mine. i usually purchase the blackest black of mascara, but this definitely achieves a more subtle look, but still absolutely gorgeous. i absolutely reccommend that you all add this to your makeup collections!

my nail beds suck!

leave it to me to label my post a quote from mean girls.

anyways, i bought some new polish today! sally hansen xtreme wear in "wet cement" and it's safe to say i am completely in love with the gray trend that's budding up this fall. this polish is very easy to apply, even to my right hand when i am most certainly NOT a lefty. the formula works very well and goes on smoothly and evenly. i did only one coat and it wasn't even streaky [my camera didn't really capture the non-streakyness and correct color! it's a bit darker in person.] this color will match everything and anything in your wardrobe, so give it a go!

ps, please don't mind how vile my cuticles look! they're awful lately.
